Bulgaria is a Balkan country in Eastern Europe, bounded by Turkey and the Black Sea in the east, Greece in the south, North Macedonia and Serbia in the west and Romania in the north.

Bulgaria is a cultural melting pot with Greek, Slavic, Ottoman, and Persian influences, it has a rich heritage of traditional dance, music, costumes, and crafts. At the foot of the domed Vitosha mountain is its capital city, Sofia, dating to the 5th century B.C. Religion in Bulgaria has been dominated by Christianity since its adoption as the state religion in 864. The dominant form of the religion is Eastern Orthodox Christianity.
