Gennadiy has been the pastor of the "Way of Salvation" Church in Pereschepyne since 1986, in the Dnipropetrovsk region of eastern Ukraine. He is married to Elena, and they have a son, Viktor and a daughter, Yulia, both grown-up.

Gennadiy is also a volunteer army chaplain. Since the start of the war in 2014, Gennadij drives his minibus into the Donetsk region, taking supplies to people still surviving in the towns and villages near Donetsk, and sharing the gospel with them. He is supported by a team from his church, and is often accompanied by his son, Viktor, on these dangerous journeys.

He also visits the army units he ministers to, who are serving on the front line.

Gennadiy also served in the Open Air Mission in Germany (Wuppertal) from 1996 till 2002 for two months every year.
