Like many nations in Western Europe, Switzerland today is largely materialistic and hedonistic, with people focused on the pursuit of wealth and self-fulfilment. There is, however, an increasing openness to spiritual things, particularly among young people. Many are exploring ways to fill this spiritual vacuum. Evangelism is difficult and progress is slow, but there is a steady growth in the number of believers. Sadly, communities often view evangelical believers as members of a heretical sect.
