Bruno Pires serves as an assistant pastor in the evangelical church of Alto do Moinho, and in the church plant of Azoia in the Lisbon area of Portugal.
Bruno was raised in a family that did not have a Christian profession firmly established. He grew up with his mother and grandparents. In his household, only his grandmother professed faith in Jesus Christ.
As a child, he would be taken by his grandmother to church, but stopped going in his pre-teenage years. However, he was often invited by a cousin to some church activities such as Sunday school, youth group, holiday bible club, and summer camps.
In 2013, after being invited again to a summer camp, at 15 years of age, Bruno felt the weight of his sins and recognized Jesus Christ as his saviour. From then on, he began to attend Alto do Moinho Evangelical Church, growing in understanding of the gospel, which lead him to be baptized in 2015. In that same year he felt the call into ministry work.
It would only be five years later that he would start his theological studies in the Portuguese Bible Institute, a three-year course sponsored by EMF. After completing his studies, in the August of 2023, Bruno was accepted as an EMF missionary and was, at the same time, appointed as an associate pastor of his local church, Alto do Moinho Evangelical Church.
Bruno was married to Sara in September 2024. They met in a summer camp and got to know each other better through church, as they both attended Alto do Moinho Evangelical Church. Sara was raised in a Christian family and grew up in the church. She studied medicine and completed her studies in December 2024. While in university she was involved with IFES.
