Edy and his wife Marjha are serving in the Iglesia Bíblica Vida Nueva in Madrid, Spain.
Edy is one of the pastors at Iglesia Bíblica Vida Nueva in Madrid, in the Hortaleza district. The family’s journey reflects God’s redemptive work in their lives and their commitment to spreading the Gospel.
Edy, originally from Venezuela, grew up in a Catholic home where religious practices were sporadic and interwoven with witchcraft. At 15, a close friend's testimony introduced him to the Gospel, and he began attending Iglesia Bautista la Fe in Maracaibo. His transformation had a profound impact on his family, leading to his mother’s salvation before her passing when Edy was 17.
Feeling called to pastoral ministry, Edy balanced caring for his mother and completing his education, earning a degree in Human Resources in 2012. Currently, he is pursuing a Master’s in Divinity through Southern Baptist Theological Seminary’s online program, further equipping him for ministry.
Marjha also hails from Venezuela, growing up in a Christian household and regularly attending Iglesia Bautista la Fe. However, her faith became personal at the age of 20 when she experienced true conversion. Since then, she has been actively involved in ministry, particularly in worship and women’s discipleship. Her academic background includes a bachelor’s degree in psychology.
Family Life:
Edy and Marjha have two sons, Bruno and Mario, who are growing up surrounded by faith and ministry. The family’s Venezuelan roots and diverse experiences allow them to connect with the multicultural community they serve in Madrid.
Ministry in Spain:
In 2014, Edy and Marjha moved to Spain with plans for career advancement, but God redirected their paths. By 2017, they joined the McMillan's in planting Iglesia Bíblica Vida Nueva in Hortaleza, a district with a population of over 200,000 but little Gospel presence.
The church primarily serves Hispanic immigrants, many of whom are young families seeking better opportunities in Spain. Edy and Marjha have a vision to reach not only these immigrants but also the Spanish locals, praying that the church’s new, strategically located building will increase their visibility and impact within the community.
Prayer and Vision:
Edy and Marjha’s prayer is for Iglesia Bíblica Vida Nueva to be a beacon of hope in Hortaleza, drawing many Spaniards to Christ. They trust that this new chapter in their ministry will bring spiritual renewal and growth, glorifying God in Madrid and beyond.
